Morning Meeting, October 16, 2014


These "Norms" were contributed and agreed upon by students to create an environment where students can be most productive and successful! They first went through a brainstorming process in teams, then went back and categorized and the norms. The final step was to priorize the norms and come to consensus on the most important norms to create the safe, positive, productive learning environment for all.

1. Responsibility

  • Be prepared for class (homework, ready to begin, bring planner, etc.)
  • Stay in your own space
  • Follow directions the first time

2. Respect and Kindness

  • Share
  • Listen
  • Delay judgment
  • Touch only things that belong to you or that you have permission to touch
  • Use kind words

3. Leadership

  • Model appropriate behaviors
  • Do the right thing without being asked
  • When someone talks to you without permission hold up two fingers to remind them that this is not the right time for discussion.
  • Be fair
  • Come to consensus when making group decisions
  • Use "Ask Me" Advisor
  • Make smart choices
  • Share and invite different points of view (perspective)
