What does Edward Look like?
  • Made almost entirely out of china
  • His arms and legs were jointed and joined by wire so they could be bent
  • His ears were made of real rabbit fur
  • Beneath the fur, there were strong bendable wires, which allowed the ears to be arranged into poses that reflected the rabbit's mood--jaunty, tired, full of ennui
  • His tail was made of real rabbit fur and was fluffy and soft and well shaped
  • He was tall, measured almost three feet from the tip of his ears to the tip of his feet
  • His eyes were painted a penetrating and intelligent blue (he was always awake)
  • Long elegant whiskers
  • Wore handmade silk suits, custom leather shoes, and hats that fit over his ears.
  • He had a gold pocket watch.

Edward's Personality
  • Not interested in what people had to say
  • He didn't care for Abilene's parents and their "condescending" manner towards him.
  • When Abilene said she loved him, he felt annoyance (about how the maid treated him) and agitation (that Abilene hugged him so tightly, his clothes wrinkled)
  • Felt first emotion: Fear (when he landed face down on the ocean floor)
